Hi, I’m Mae Francis, and I’m running for College of the Mainland’s Board of Trustees, Position 6 – At Large. I’m not here to represent just one segment of our community; I’m here to strengthen the bond between the board and every individual we serve.
My Story & Commitment
I’ve been rooted in this community since I was nine, consistently contributing to its growth and understanding its unique needs. My journey has been defined by service and leadership—from my time in the US Army to influential roles in the Aerospace and Petrochemical industries. Today, I lead Lookin’ Up Consulting, a powerhouse that crafts dynamic speeches, transformative workshops, and high-impact coaching sessions that elevate individuals, teams, and organizations.
For over a decade, I have passionately served on COM’s Petrochemical Board, and I played a pivotal role in launching the Milwright Mechanical and Maintenance Program as an Adjunct Instructor. I designed job curricula at Ashland Chemicals and have been the driving force behind initiatives that equip maintenance students with the tools to succeed—from resume writing to effective interviewing. As one of the primary contacts for student emotional success at Galveston College, I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of dedicated support.
Why I’m Running
I’m ready to drive real change by championing policies that:
- Boost Student Success: Empower every student with the mentorship and inclusive support they need to excel.
- Forge Strong Workforce Connections: Create strategic partnerships that align academic learning with real-world skills, ensuring our graduates are poised to lead in a dynamic workforce.
- Maximize Every Investment: Ensure every dollar is reinvested directly into the growth and well-being of our students and staff.
I’m not just running for a seat on the board—I’m running to redefine what success looks like for our community. With your support, we will bridge the gap between high expectations and real representation, forging a future where every student, every teacher, and every dollar spent accelerates our collective success.
Together, let’s transform challenges into opportunities and build a legacy of excellence for the College of the Mainland.
